I'm so glad that things are going better. That's great news!

As far as the waking up too early, here's what has worked for some people. Figure out what time he normally wakes up and set your alarm for about 15 minutes before that. Take him out and go back to bed. Very s-l-o-w-l-y move the alarm time forward. This way, pup learns that he gets to get up/go out when the alarm goes off, not when he demands it. He should start waiting for the sound of the alarm to get up (if you do is slowly enough) and you should eventually be able to get him to wait until your normal getting up time.
