We used to eat in the living room in front of the TV but had to stop because Gracie and Sampson were in our faces, on the plates grabbing our dinner. Now we eat in the kitchen at the table and we COMPLETELY ignore both of them during dinner. It took a couple of weeks, but they now just take a nap under the kitchen table while we eat. We did not acknowledge their presence in ANY way if they begged, jumped up, cried, pawed... They both do hang around the kitchen when I cook, but they usually just sit their quietly hoping I will drop something.
