I never drink tap water or give it to my dogs. Around here we are always getting the 'boil water' notice. We get our water from a nearby lake and in the summer all the boats dump their waste into the water in the lake (they are not suppose to but they do anyway). It really makes me mad! I just don't take chances anymore. At least it wasn't that! That can really make you sick.
I just buy gallon jugs of cheap water at Kroger or Walmart (where ever they are on sale) and keep them in the fridge. Everything should be ok for Maximus, but I understand your worrying.
