He is very well behaved and was zipped up in his carrier; most people didn't know he was there; they thought it was my purse. He slept thru the entire thing. Had we had someone to babysit, we would have done it, but we had driven 10 hours away from home and anyone that we knew was at the funeral, so there wasn't anyone to take care of him.
Since it was my MIL and I'm married to her one son, and there is only his brother, who didn't mind us bringing Max, I think our "tackiness quotient" was rather a moot subject. And my MIL would have LOVED to have Max there anyway.

I would not however, take him to anyone else's funeral or the funeral home.
