I vote to go ahead an spay her. It is so much better to spay them before their first heat cycle - don't have to worry about the mess and keeping her away from other dogs, not false pregnancies (or real ones), and less chance of cancer later on. I have heard that neutering a male before fully maturing may affect their structure (mainly in large dogs)...I learned this from some show breeders on another great pet forum. But I have never heard anything about early spaying affecting a female's development. And if you aren't planning to show your dog (male or female) why does it matter? Your dog will be healthier in the long run if you spay her now. Plus, the younger they are the quicker and easier they recover from the surgery.
