I free feed and give 'special' breakfasts. I use Purina Puppy Kibbles and Bits, it has hard and semi-soft morsels, that's what I free feed (it's the only thing our chi will eat, and boy does she eat, but she's really active and not overweight). In the morning Lida gets the Science diet mixed with a little puppy formula for moistening. I find she stops eating before she's full if I just give her the dry. This way I know she's getting enough, and she kind of snacks on the kibbles. Occassionally she gets some chicken and rice, but not too much, I don't want to get her use to it in case someone has to watch her for me. I've always heard that yorkies were notorious for being picky eaters so I would think if they like something and they are getting the right nutrition that would be the way to go.
