Oh gosh....I feel your pain. Our neighborhood is the worst....you can't go right or left.....I can barely go out in my own yard!

As far as going to see the German Shephard by yourself, I'm not so sure that will work. The dog may be people friendly but dog aggressive.

I often put mine in the car and head to a different neighborhood, park and sometimes even a school football field.

As far as the pepper spray, why don't you try Cabellas.com. I think they ship to Canada and the last time I checked they had "bear spray". It sprays farther than the regular spray.
