Are Yorkies more delicate, healthwise than other little dogs? After the third trip to an emergency vet in a couple of years...I am starting to wonder about the health of purebred dogs, or maybe Yorkies in particular. I know they are prone to certain congenital things as are many different breeds, but Im talking about something different than that. I have two other little dogs, a Maltese and a Yorkie poo (who is actually smaller than my Yorkie) and neither of them have the problems that my Yorkie does. It just seems that she is so fragile, and I constantly worry about her. This trip to the vet was because she had bloody diarrhea and become dehydrated. Now all three of my dogs eat the same food, walk the same paths, and live the same life basically...why then does the Yorkie get sick? Same with the other trips to the vet...one for some kind of weird rash with which she became fairly ill, and the third time was for a terrible cough or choking sound which they said was an inverse sneeze. Is it just my dog and possibly because my son got her from a pet store or is it just me, worrying too much? Two of the trips were really necessary as she was pretty sick so I dont think I overreacted. It seems I worry as much about this little one as I did for my kids.
