Being a groomer I sometimes need extra hands to help. But you can try this. Wrap your pup in a towel have some one put whatever cleaner you use (I use Vet Solutions from revivalanimal.com, it's a cleaner and has a drying agent in it), then with a Q-tip I clean the debris as it bubbles up to the outer ear. If their is a slight odor may be caused by a yeast infection. Otomax from your vet will keep this in check.
