My mom lost her beloved toy poodle because she didn't think he needed his collar on in the house or their fenced in back yard. One day he managed to escape and without a collar on. That was 4 years ago and he was never found.
Mine ALWAYS wear a collar and tag - even in the house. You just never know and its better to be safe than sorry.
