I spoke to my vet about this and he said that if he's up to date with his shots he should be ok. I also spoke to the PetSmart trainer (I know, she's an employee so she's sticking up for them) and she said that they thoroughly clean the floor with a part bleach solution and to her credit she did inspect every dog that came to the class to make sure they looked healthy. The dogs themselves didn't really have much interaction.
As for the class itself, I really liked it. It's clicker training, using positive reinforcement. Our only problem was that Wickett was lazy and just sat next to me.
The washable pee pads are now being used regularly for pee. For some reason, the poop is touch and go, with more poop happening OFF the pad. He's just so small that even if he's in the same room as us we sometimes don't see him. Sneaky guy.
