I don't know about callouses but I know my husband and I have noticed sadly that Tucker's soft baby feet have started to get rougher since he's gotten older and started to go for walks on pavement. I definitely think that dogs have a higher tolerance to heat on their feet than humans do though so I'm not sure if the barefoot test would work. Think about it, they don't wear shoes so their feet are already less sensitive than ours simply out of neccessity plus they walk over all sorts of surfaces like rocks and gravel without feeling pain. I think there is a certain point that is too hot of course but I'm pretty sure your pup would let you know.
