I think Sherpa is the best "airline" bag you can get for your money and safety. It has 3 sides that are ventilated. I couldn't find a small one so I ended up buying a different brand at Petsmart but it's made just like the Sherpa. (Also, you might want to make sure of your airlines size requirements.)

I love my Sherpa and it is the one I used when Annika travelled with me to the Yorkie Fair. It is sturdy yet the frame isn't hard so it is easy to get it under the front seat . . .
