Cody said he didn't mind if I took pictures of his crate to share, so here they are! The first picture shows the crate put together. It was the smallest one in the dog section at PetSmart. The second one shows how we put a box in the back to make it half the size because it was huge for Cody. And the second one shows that as he gets bigger, it fits his bed perfectly so that it's nice and warm and cozy for him. He actually has been quieter in his crate since we put the box in there- I think it's because he likes to cuddle
We keep rags and towels in there for now until he doesn't have accidents during the night because we tried his bed one night- he had an accident and then the bed fell apart in the washing machine even though it says 'machine washable'! We were able to put it back together and learned our lesson though
I don't think he's going to grow too big for that crate, but if he does I figure by then he'll either be trained enough to sleep on his bed outside of his crate or we'll look into getting the next size up.
