Yorkies and other toy breeds are definitely more high maintenance than larger breeds. I notice every single teeny thing that changes about Lacy. I get a little worried if she even coughs or her eyes or tearing too much, etc. I don't run her to the vet for every little thing, but I have had to take her in for a couple things before - like an eye infection and swollen paws (like your's). And I make sure she gets checked out at least once a year. |
I am the same way. Here's how I see it. I got Gracie so I would have a companion and a friend. She has turned out to be so much more! When I brought that little pup home, I took on one huge responsibility for a creature that is dependent upon me in every way. I would never consider not taking my skin kid to the doctor. Why would I not treat my fur kid with the same respect?
