So glad you heard Amy got there safely. I remember the first day I took my daughter to college and we cried, I ended up trying to sleep there and then bringing her back home at 3 am and driving her back for class the next day (100 mile RT) ... did that for 4 days until I had to go back to my school for work.
Cried each time she came home for the weekend and left. Until 6 months later, she acclimated and got used to doing her school work and coming home whenever necessary (like to do laundry). It really is hard letting go. I do not know for whom it is harder!
I think we all go through this.
