I think regular ice cream is fine if you only give a small amount of it every once in a while. You don't want to give it too often because of the sugar and fat. And you don't want to give too much because of the milk in there. Dogs (and cats) are lactose intolerant and can't digest the lactose in milk, so too much can give them diarrhea or make them throw up. I haven't given Lacy any in a while, but she loves to get a "puppy scoop" when we drive through Shakes (frozen custard). The usually give her too much though. She loves it but has thrown up after she eats it if I give her too much.
