Each pup is different as to how they react. Most vets will tell you to keep them calm, don't let them run, climb stairs or jump for 10 days (yeah, right!). Most pups will bounce right back within a day or two and you'd never know they had just had surgery. Others take a little longer to heal and a few will have complications.

Do your best to keep her calm once you bring her home for at least a day or two. Make sure the vet sends home pain meds. Letting them "feel the pain" to keep their activity level low isn't going to do that and will just cause them pain!! Watch your baby - you know them better than anyone. You will know if something isn't right. The incision should be kept clean and dry. If there is swelling, redness, any oozing or smells - have it check out right away.

I didn't notice a personality change at all with Sissy. She is still playful and energetic. It's too early to tell yet with Angel. They may gain a little weight following the spay as well.

Hope this helps and we'll be thinking of you and Lexie tomorrow. Good luck!!

MissBesty - hope everything goes well for your baby too.
