The BA test is vastly misunderstood by many Vets as well as breeders and owners. There are many many reasons for a high BA and you cannot go by that. A high BA can be caused by infections, high protein puppy food diets, being on Albon for coccidia and that takes many months for things to go back to normal. I am sure other drugs and medications can also elevate liver function levels and BA results. Go by the typical symptoms of Liver shunt rather than relying on the BA test.
He also told me not to do it at less than 6 months of age unless you are seeing most of the symptoms of LS.. There is a urine BA test however, he also told me it would have to be severe shunt for there to be a high reading. A minor shunt would not show high levels in the urine. |
Thanks for your reply. It def puts some things at ease. The peeing and drinking was bugging me as it is one of symptoms. But I honestly think its because he goes so crazy during play time, its hot and well.. he is a puppy!! He eats normally, acts fine after food. He does like his naps but I think that references back to the playing lol.

so thanks for the good advice!
