I have heard it can be up to a year for them to drop. In all of our puppies we have had already had little bumps there and you can feel them when they went home. They leave our house anywhere from 12 weeks up to around 16 weeks. If they are tucked up an no chance of dropping then it's better to fix him as that can cause cancer later in life. A dog will not gain weight just from getting fixed - it's from many other reasons - #1 table scraps.
