The number of dogs allowed in the cabins are regulated by how big the plane is or isn't.
On my US Airways flight last month, the first plane had room for both Carter & Cooper but the second flight could only accomodate 1 dog total because it was a smaller plane.
Meg . . . Courtney flew Delta Airlines today and I was able to go to the gate with her. When she checked in, they tagged her carrier for Cooper with a green tag with specific information written on it. The ticket agent made sure that Courtney understood that at no time was Cooper to be allowed outside of his carrier per the FAA regulations.
They didn't measure her carrier and I know its larger than 8" tall but less than 10". Once Courtney was aboard the plane and had been told they would be delayed for takeoff due to traffic in and around Atlanta, she called me. She said the carrier fit with no problem under their seat.
While waiting at the airport, Cooper slept. I hope he sleeps the duration of the flights! They don't arrive at their final destination until 9:38 tonight.
