Oh your story brings back memories of Schatzie when she was just a itty baby pup crying in her kennel. We let her cry and we ignored her. If she cried for long periods of time we'd tap her crate with a spoon and say "quiet".
Eventually she stopped and now enjoy's her crate when she needs to go in one.
