We used to have problems with matts on Zoe until we switched to a good shampoo and a really rich moisturizing conditioner, and voila, no more matts. Shampoos/conditioners will be trial and error so play around with various products. Although I don't keep Zoe's coat too long, see my avatar. Try switching to a premium shampoo/conditioner and use a chris christensen brush...they're expensive but worthwhile. We carry SheaPet and Happy Tails product line.
