I use a crib mattress pad (waterproof) on the floor, and I put white cloth baby diapers on top for potty pads. My boys go outside and use potty pads because I'm gone for work sometimes 9 hours. So they don't use them very often, meaning I only change them once every other day. I wash the soiled pads once a week, they do not smell very bad, but I keep them in a trash can with a lid until wash day. They cost about 7.00 I think for 12 diapers. I'm on a tight budget and this has worked out better for me financially than when I used the blue disposable chux pads. You can also look on valethics.com for some larger washable pads.
