Okay, here goes. If anyone is hurt, sorry. If not, glad. BUT, ask any teen about ANYTHING from cyber space-info, videos, latest styles, concert tickets and on and on and on and you will get such a rush of info you cannot begin to process it..Now, splain to me why we should allow that same teen to care for, own, deal with a living fragile animal like a 7 week old Yorkie and not expect her to put as much effort into researching this being.. I have grandchildren who can and do work rings around almost anyone I know googling a subject no matter how trivial.
Now, let's look at what is wrong with saying "She just didn't know!" OF COURSE, she didn't. And why? She didn't research on line. And is that because she didn't know how? No, that is not the case. Should she be allowed to drag a puppy around whom she did not get info on line about to look and buy something she most likely DID research on line. I am NOT SAYING THIS TO BE A FACT but does it sound reasonable?
IMO we should expect no less from our kids (or adults) when getting them a living being than when buying a prom dress or DVD or whatever on line. We should expect more, IMO. Her parents are responsible for supervising her and seeing that she did do her homework...they certainly would if they spent $1500.00 or more on another item..
Again, I do not know the facts, none of us do, but it would be a real pleasant surprise to have her join this or any forum to be educated....Do I think that will happen?? No. Would I like for that to happen? I would LOVE it!! And, I would write her an apology an inch high..
