Groomers - which way do you brush? Please help. Do you brush the Yorkie coat the way in which it grows (straight down) or do you brush it in a different direction? I took Mia to get groomed last weekend and had a not so good time. After several issues of discussion they took Mia in the back while my hubby and I waited. We started to hear this squeaking sound and ran to the window to see our baby being 'raked" sideways!!! One girl had her, after giving her a bath, and was just raking her horizontally! I'm no expert... but I didn't think she should have been brushed thay way - matts or not. They said oh she had matts that you we didn't get to. Well I won't disagree.... she has a cotton coat and she can get matted coming out of the bath if you're not carefull. But would you use a rake and brush her sideways? Poor Mia was actually snipping and squeaking about it. You could tell it hurt and she didn't even use her other hand to hold it down. She wasn't trying to comfort her or keep her calm either. Now mind you my paper states that you must talk to and be very gentle with Mia. She is not allowed to be left in a cage or cage dried or left unattended at any time. Then of course I go on to list what to cut and how much. But as you can see... my concern really is about how they treat my Mia. When I talked to the owner about this she went in to talk to the shampoo girl and of course the rest of the groomers said oh yes she was matted. Well people - she was not that matted! Anyway back to the point.... how do you brush your Yorkie??? Thank You!
