She has NEVER had issues with other dogs.... she does not need a home devoid of other dogs. I have 4 and I dog sit and have guests who bring their dogs and I've never had a problem.
I think she may just need someone who can handle the stressfull transistion that she is obviously going to go through. She may have felt threatened? or it could be as simple as.... dogs sometimes wrestle for the dom position and some people can handle watching that and others can't.
(Again... Please don't be offended Misty.... I in no way mean for this to reflect on you. She was concerned for the safety of her dog and I understand that. )
I think an experianced dog owner is what Paris needs.
