You can pull the hair after ear mites are gone if you want. Take a Q-tip and twirl the hair around it and give a quick yank. They do cry out when hair is pulled out but sometimes if they have a lot of inner ear hair it's necessary to have it removed. The hair holds moisture, dirt and wax and can also lead to ear infections. I have a tool called a hemostat that I remove the hair with.
