You have a great attitude! I think a lot of people worry because these dogs should fit a certain standard set by the AKC and also cost a lot of money. I suppose a few worry because they want their dog to "look right," but a lot of us feel the same way you do if our dogs are a little too large, or the wrong colors.
However i have learned on YT that breeding and selling all breeds is a huge responsibility. There are many great breeders, but Yorkies have become the second most popular breed in this country and, therefore, are huge money makers. There are puppy mills and breeders who breed tiny dogs with little or no regard for their health issues just to make a lot of money. They advertise "teacups," which cost more. There is no such thing as a "teacup, and some of these are not as healthy as a good breeder would be sure they were. Most people here are not being snobbish about how their dog looks, they are simply concerned with maintaining the integrity and health of the breed, and with doing away with puppy mills and greedy breeders. |
