I experienced the same with my little Furgi...she had 9 baby teeth removed. The price that they gave you does seem a little bit steep. I assume that they are including the price of the neuter as well. Furgi had already been spayed at 5 months and didn't have her baby teeth pulled until she was about 9 months. The vet and I decided to wait until her adult teeth did start to come thru because she was losing teeth every month until 8 months. At 9 months she had 9 baby teeth pulled and I also chose to have a cleaning done (Yorkies and their terrible teeth). The entire procedure ran about $400.00. Check around a bit. You shouldn't need to see a specialist for this, I went to a vet that had 3 staff members trained in dentistry but not specializing in only this. Also, my grandmothers yorkie had 3 baby teeth pulled at the time of her spaying and was charged $32.50 per baby tooth removed. I would suggest finding a vet that is experienced with small breeds of dogs and am betting they have someone on their staff trained in dentistry. |
