Reading this thread I can't help but think about my students! I was teaching a class last semester and the topic for that week was Diversity! I NEVER in a million years expected to get resistance on that topic but I did! My students who are about 22-24 made the most hateful, hurtful, derogatory comments I have ever heard in my life! I was so appalled I left that class crying my eyes out! I was trying to explain that diversity simply meant difference and in todays global workforce diversity is an asset b/c you get different cultures with different ideas, opinions and it all equals a better outcome! I'm sad that our society has not yet come up to speed with respect and equality. |
