I went to friend's house this weekend to help her out with a major cleaning project and brought Stitch to play in her backyard since it's fenced. Big mistake! I noticed last night that his front legs were all bright pink and irritated-looking and thought maybe he had poison ivy, so I planned on washing him this morning.
Imagine my horror when I rolled him on his back and saw that his pink belly had broken out in this bumpy, angry-looking rash! It looks like acne-meets-chicken pox. So I hightailed it to the vet, who thinks he got bitten by ants
and got a staph infection.
He's on antibiotics for a week, and I had to bathe him in this antiseptic shampoo that doesn't work nearly as nicely on his coat as Buddy Wash. I almost started crying when I washed him because his lower body is pretty much covered in these bumps. My poor baby!
(The one "silver" lining in this is at least he's not infested with fleas, which was my initial worry. I had planned on having to deflea our entire house.)
