Most foods say that for an active dog they should eat 3/4 cup. Feeding properly depends on the dogs age, weight, and most importantly their level of activity. The more active they are they more they should eat. I feed mine 1/4 cup of dry kibble 2 times a day, because they are older already. When they are very active outside running their little butts off they get more food, because they burn off so much playing.
