You're talking about a 'bag' carrier, right? I left the carrier wide open in the living room on the floor and put a toy in it and Hoku hopped in and out whenever she wanted to. After she seemed used to it I'd wait till she was in and then I'd pick it up and carry her around the house. Eventually I zipped it up and went outside and she started looking forward to going out
