Truffles was injected under the skin with something to hydrate her and the option was thrown out there to also have blood work and xrays but at this time, I declined. I brought her home and coaxed her to eat baby hotdogs, and she did. Then she was eating the brown rice and chicken mix I put down for her She had not thrown up for about 24 hours so I am not as concerned with her right now-especially since she has just eaten! Thank God.
This dr agreed that ALL my dogs should be and will be treated for the giardia as soon as they are stable and keeping foods down.
Dr will call me in an hour with an update on Gemma....
thanks everyone for your thoughts and advice. I am so upset with all this! |

Prayers going out to little Gemma!! Please do not wait to treat for the Giardia until they are keeping foods down. It can continue to multiply. Start treating asap and ask him for liquid Metronidazole. Usually the pharmacy will have to make it up. As it is liquid, it will also help somewhat with dehydration. Starting on yogurt in small amounts will also help the tummy. Good luck and please keep us posted.
