Makemepretty,
My heart goes out to you, you're in a very emotional state - which is 100% understandable. Please know, Villette is truly one of the kindest, most thoughtful, sweetest and supportive members I've ever come across on this board. Please take a breath, re-read what she said and remember her good heart.
I read her comment as "I'm so sorry for you and what you've had to go through. I'm even more sorry for that puppy bc of what she's gone through and bc a puppy/animal is 1000% vulnerable (and can't "reason" her way through her experiences like us humans)".
Do what you feel is right, of course, but is there anyway you could maybe sell the pup locally to someone you could screen? Or, are you absolutely sure you couldn't keep her? Clearly, you are a victim here - but this pup has already been even more of a victim - and it seems so sad to put this pup on a flight and back in the hands of the breeder. I guess what I'm saying, and I mean this gently, is that maybe it'd be best if you took on the burden of finding a great home for this pup, that maybe you take responsibility for this baby and not put her through any more.
I do agree w/ some of what's been said - you probably did quite a bit of homework, as you stated above in your research, and you trusted your findings enough to go through w/ the transaction. So...
This is just my two cents, take it or leave it. If I was in your shoes, there probably would be a part of me that would NOT want this breeder to receive any money and I'd want to reverse the transaction. But, at the end of the day, what was BEST FOR THE PUPPY (this vulnerable, dependent little creature) would win out over my desire to nullify the transaction.
There is a lot of support here - you may even find someone on this board who might want the baby.
Best of luck and take care,
Ann
