We did crate training when we were home, but if we were going to be gone fore more than two hours, we would put him in the kitchen with a pee pad, food and water, and a blanket and his crate. He only went on the pee pad. He was potty trained in about 2 weeks, but when I was home and he was out of his crate I watched his every move...it was a LOT of work. He is now fully potty trained, but only goes on his pee pad. I am fine with it because it is so easy for him and me. he can go whenever he wants. Even at night, he will jump down from the bed, go do his buisiness, and then come hop back into bed
