And yes, show breeders certainly do sell their "pet quality" yorkies, I have 3 that are not able to be shown for one reason or another but that is the reason they breed, to produce a show dog for themselves not a breeding dog for someone else. |
I started breeding yorkies because I luvvvvvvvvvv them and had wanted one since I was a small child. As far as starting to breed them, my husband has bred and trained Field Champion beagles for close to forty years and it has been his hobby for all these years. it is by no means a way to support me. in fact, I don't think it would ever get past a little pocket money. certainly couldn't support our lifestyle. i am a retired R.N. and my husband is retired from proctor and Gamble so you can see we have our own support. for me it is a hobby that I started during a time in my life where I needed something besides a DIL with Cancer (who has since passed) and two precious grandbabies and two adult mentally retarded children that were ruling my life. I had to have an outlet for ME. hope this answers your question, at least from me. I don't know why other people do it and it's none of my business. I have all I can handle taking care of me.
