Default Mandatory Spay/neuter Law In Calif.

Right now all I can say on this subject is this, please Big Government leave us alone. We have grown old and abided by each and all laws up until now. My visit to get our mail today was not pleasant. I pray that other states do not follow the example of Calif. in the mandatory spay/neuter law. I hope that people in other states will be observant of the laws that are being imposed, it can happen, it has happened here. Upon reading what I received in the mail today, animal control couldn't even get the information correct from last year when I licensed ours also couldn't even get the information correct on the micro chipping I am so strongly opposed to laws that make this mandatory. We did not have ours spayed last year, we don't want to!
Many years ago we had two dogs spayed, each at seperate times, we went through years of each being incontinent, not good, 14 years one and almost that long with another, back then I said never again. The spays were done by different vets, their comment was it and anything can happen. We had no health issue due to not spaying Cassie or our Gretta, they were always healthy. Sorry I have to bring this up again but it is just so frustrating to me and I truely resent being told we have to do something which I feel is our right to make this decision and not the State or the county that enforces such a law. This is one instance, to those people that are responsable pet owners and don't let their pets astray, we are paying the price, of those pet owners that are not caring and unresponsable to the dog and cat population. To allow a dog to run loose and about that is being unresponsable. This law is not a good law. Yes, I do understand the pet population is landing a lot of dogs, cats in the animal shelters but those that are ending up there and being euthenized are not most of the time because they are pets PETS THAT ARE LOVED AND CARED ABOUT ARE NOT DISCARDED TO AN ANIMAL SHELTER. Posting this is not something I want to debate it is merely our expressing how we feel on this subject, I know there are many, many people here in Calif. that feel as we do but if this needs to be put forth then it is our belief to let it be put on a ballot and let the people within the state as a voter make this decision, not a few elected officials pass such a law. These are both our opinions
