This is my first substantial pet - I am not used to anything more complex than a rabbit! - and he is only 4 months old; I have only had him two weeks, but much of the behavior mentioned above I already see. He seemed to come a bit "pre-trained" - he held it when in an unsuitable spot and went on the pads or newspaper, then started only urinating on the pads, now does whatever he wants on carpet or throw rugs; I can usually tell when it's coming and move him to the pad, in which case he runs off to do it where he wanted to; I don't want a power struggle here with a 3-pound pup! I would really like to get him to use a box and have the pad in the box now, and have put the stools in there, and put him in there! when I see he's ready to let it go- no luck. I haven't found any info on box training anywhere - just that "it's an option". Does anybody have any helpful hints on training a Yorkie to use a box? Thanks! |
