My little boy's eyes would run like crazy. First thing in the morning his eyes were fine but the more he ran, the more his eyes ran. I took him to the vet and she put dye in his eyes (it was on a little piece of cardboard), then darkened the room and used an ultraviolet light. What was supposed to happen is we were supposed to see a little wet around his nose glow. We did not. The vet thinks his tear ducts are either blocked or just not there. According to her, it is OK, instead of the moisture from his eyes running through the tear ducts and then out his nose, it runs down his face.
Now I took him to the vet with this when he was about 3 months old. He is now 8 months old and has very little drainage. I just use a warm face cloth to wipe his eyes. It is a pain because he hates it so it is a fight everyday.
I live in a very small town (1,200 people) so my chances of a second or third vet opinion is not an option. If this does not sound right (that he can live with this with NO problem), PLEASE let me know. |
