Don't give up on transcripting yet. I work at a hospital and they only way they hire people to do this is when people call and ask them about it. They never advertise. So call the hospitals near you (Medical Records or Physician Services) You might print up some business cards and flyers to mail to the physicians' offices.
If you are good at internet searches you might try to free lance as an informationist. People that don't have computers or are afraid of them might be willing to pay you for this. Say if they wanted to know about a medical disease. You could find plenty of legitimate information. Be careful that it is trustworthy though.
