I have found just the opposite to be true. Maybe it depends on the individual pup? My experience is with the "D" ring at the mid-to-bottom of the rib cage area ensures that there is no pressure on the neck if you need to quickly lift up your baby. The harness doesn't slide at all if secured snugly. And Sissy has a large rib cage, yet she isn't top heavy nor turns upside down.
