Yes, it is not an entirely correct. AKC though a wonderful registry, it is just that a registry.
Go to the YTCA.org site and see the History of the Yorkshire Terrier as studied, written and published by one of the Yorkshire Terrier Matriarchs. The Standard was written by the YTCA and adopted by the AKC.
