How old was your first yorkie when you brought the 2nd (or third...) one into your family?
How did your older yorkie adjust?? Did he/she have a difficult time getting used to having a new baby in the house?
Any cons for having more than one. I can think of a million pros, but no cons. I'm sure there have to be some?? Maybe?
Thanks! Any advice you can provide me would be GREATLY appreciated. Also, if you can think of a SURE way for me to convinve my hubby, that would be good too. |
I love having two Yorkies! Riley is our first Yorkie and he was (and still is) 9 months old when we brought TJ home a few weeks ago. Rilye adjusted well, it just took him a few days. At first, he was scared of the puppy. He didn't know what TJ was because Riley thinks he is a person. He didn't want his mama (my mom) to touch the new puppy. He was very jealous. Even though he was jealous if my mom touched TJ, Riley still liked TJ. After about 2-3 days, he started playing with TJ and they became buddies.
I don't think there are too many cons of having more than one Yorkie. The only one I can think of is that your first Yorkie might teach the new upup some of it's bad habits. Riley has a tendency to put his two front feet in his litter box and go potty. He thinks he is in the box, but he isn't. TJ has seen him do this and he has started to do this too. So, they teach each other things, but sometimes the things are good. So that con can also be a pro depending on what they are teaching each other. LOL. Another con would be jealousy, and it can be hard to deal with, but you might just want to let your husband bond at first with the new puppy so that your current Yorkie won't get extremely jealous, which he might not be in the first place because all Yorkies are different.
To convince your husband: Having two Yorkies is great because they entertain eachother when you are too tired to play fetch or other games. They will play with each other when you are too busy (cooking, cleaning, etc.) or you are not home. Also, two Yorkies is definitely double the love, hugs, and kisses! I would never go back to having just one Yorkie. I just wouldn't be able to do it. Having two is a blessing!
