I don't and would not condone shock collars, however, I think the citronella spray collar is a great, gentle alternative. I realize dogs were meant to bark, but dogs are now incorporated into our daily lives and not all of our neighbors enjoy a barking dog therefore as a responsible owner it is important to curtail the barking to an acceptable level. I know w/ my own (and I professionally train on the side), I have tried water bottles, squirt bottles, can w/ pennies etc. When this collar came out I worked for a week with it on my dog and it worked wonders. Now, generally he will bark once or twice usually when someone comes to the door and then I say quiet and he stops. I also worked with limited barking in the back yard as I have neighbors on all sides that would not appreciate three barking dogs. I'd much rather see someone use a spray collar which doesn't hurt the dog, then to have a barking dog end up in the human society or rescue..Just my thoughts...
