So we're meeting up with a woman soon... ...to possibly get our first Yorkie. The good things right off the bat:
1) It has AKC papers. Although, I have heard that isn't rock-solid.
2) The woman isn't a breeder, so she doesn't run a "puppy farm".
3) She also seems very nice, willing to meet us halfway to show us the puppy...even willing to bring the mother and father if we want to see them.\
4) The father has championship bloodlines, and she's willing to show us those papers if we want...although, I won't insist on it b/c we aren't buying a dog to show it off.
One concern I had is this though...I hate to sound like I'm stressing out over a dog being full-bred and all...but the dog is already 5 pounds at 12 weeks...and the parents are both 7 pounds. I haven't really seen a chart online that gives me a way to kind of predict weight as an adult by its current weight...but 5 lbs at 12 weeks seems perhaps a little high...but then again, maybe it's because their parents are both on the high end of the spectrum.
I mean, it's GOOD it isn't going to be a 3 or 4 pound dog...7 pounds would be awesome as an adult, I think. However, having a 10 pound monster is a little more than we would have bargained for....
