The better the laminate, the less chance of liquids causing problems. I recently put in a cheaper laminate in a friend's house. Before we finished, her cat (with a urinary tract infection) left a puddle behind the couch which buckled the edges. We ended up having to take up a bunch of the floor to replace those buckled pieces. But, you get what you pay for.
