I chose a male yorkie just because I prefer males for some reason. All yorkies will give you unconditional love if you respect them, and well, pretty much do what they want. Male yorkies are cheaper. If you have a large family or a lot of friends that drop by, you might want a more assertive dog. If you live alone and have a small group of friends and no other pets, a shyer or more laid back dog might be a good choice. I got the last puppy in the litter, and he was the medium-sized male who was a tad shy. His brother had sold for $300 more because he was smaller and the alpha male of the litter. My choice (well, option) ended up working b/c I have an alpha terrier mix who was in no mood to give up his place. Luca Dean, the yorkie, although the non-alpha of his litter, is still pretty fiesty and fun-loving though b/c that's inherent (or should be) in the yorkie breed; it just takes him a bit longer to warm up to people than the alpha brother probably does. Good Luck in your search, girl or boy!
