Interesting question. Two of my furbabies were cremated. Their urns are in the curio cabinet with their collars and pictures. The Pet Cemetary that did the cremation is a beautiful place. You have the option of cremation or burial in their beautiful kept grounds with large animal statues and granite markers. This pet cemetary is located about 20 miles from our home, so we chose the cremation. This way both our furbabies are still here with us. As far as the freeze dried or stuffing--I would probably pass. I had a replica cast figure made of my cat years ago. I would go into a room and had to look twice on whether it was the real one or not. When he died, I had to put the replica away. It broke my heart everytime I saw it.
